Summer Cinema: Tone of Crime (Cannes, USA / 2025)

In the debut of Oscar-winning director Daniel Roher, Leo Woodall (One Day, The White Lotus, Bridget Jones: Crazy on the Boy) portrays Niki, a talented young piano tuner whose keen hearing attracts the attention of criminals who find his talent useful for both opening safes and tuning pianos. When his once-promising music career comes to an end, Niki works in New York City with his mentor Harry Horowitz (Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman) and meets a number of different people, including composition student Ruthie (Havana Rose Liu), with whom he forms an unexpected bond. Niki's hacking into the safes, however, begins to jeopardize his romance with Ruthie and drags him into increasing danger.
